MURRAY WRIGHT – KIWI #510

Auckland hooker Murray Wright played two tour matches for New Zealand in 1975 before heading south and representing Canterbury.

The 21-year-old Otahuhu rake was part of the Kiwis’ World Championship Series squad for their short midyear tour to Australia, turning out against North Queensland and North Coast Division.

Wright transferred to Hornby with fellow Auckland Kiwis Bob Jarvis and Wayne Robertson the following season. The trio helped the club climb to third in 1976, while Wright played four games for Canterbury – including the gallant 29-22 loss to his former province in the Rothmans Cup final.
