NU BROWN STARS AS BULLDOGS WIN STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

Hornby Panthers junior Fa’amanu Brown has played a starring role as ISP premiers Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs thumped ISC champs Redcliffe Dolphins 42-18 in the InTrust Super State Championship at ANZ Stadium on NRL grand final day.

Brown, who made nine first-grade appearances off the bench for Canterbury in 2018 after joining the club from Cronulla in the off-season, has been a key performer for the Bulldogs’ second-tier outfit at hooker or halfback.

The utility donned the No.7 jumper in the Bulldogs’ grand final win over Newtown Jets – who he played many matches for during his time with the Sharks – and again in the State Championship. He laid on the opening try against the Dolphins, set up another in the second half and bagged the final four-pointer for himself to ice an emphatic result.

Toa Samoa representative Brown is contracted to the Bulldogs for 2019, when he is again set to grapple with young halves Lachlan Lewis and Jeremy Marshall-King, and hookers Michael Lichaa and Zac Woolford for a place in Dean Pay’s NRL 17.
