Each week the Red and Black Report will keep you up to date with how our Canterbury Rugby League products are performing in Australia’s elite and lower-grade competitions.

NRL

Jamayne Isaako and Kodi Nikorima played key roles as Brisbane carved out a vital 38-18 win over South Sydney on Thursday night.

Winger Isaako booted seven goals to take his season tally to 199 points (one behind NRL leader Latrell Mitchell) while halfback Nikorima had a try-assist in the resounding victory.

Jazz Tevaga was again one of the Warriors’ standouts in an agonising 27-26 loss to Canterbury on Sunday. The utility-forward racked up 26 tackles and 14 runs for 111 metres, as well as two tackle-busts and two offloads.

INTRUST SUPER PREMIERSHIP NSW

Unable to force his way into Manly’s first-grade line-up and push for his 200th NRL appearance, Lewis Brown was again at hooker for Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles in a 30-18 loss to St George Illawarra.

Another versatile Christchurch-born product, Pita Godinet, also played hooker for Western Suburbs Magpies and scored the opening try of a key 25-24 eclipse of Wyong Roos.

Fa’amanu Brown was bumped out of the Bulldogs’ NRL squad by Matt Frawley after seven straight games in first grade, but starred at halfback in a 42-28 win over North Sydney for the fourth-placed blue-and-whites.

Matt McIlwrick came off the bench for the Bears.

INTRUST SUPER CUP QLD

Mackay centre Nathan Saumalu celebrated in the last-placed Cutters’ stunning 32-24 upset of Norths Devils.

JERSEY FLEGG (NSW U20s)

Cruz Topai-Aveai featured in the front-row as Cronulla held off the Warriors 28-22. The Sharks sit second on the Jersey Flegg ladder.

Sua Ailoilo forced his way back into the Bulldogs’ starting pack for their 32-6 thrashing of the Bears.

HASTINGS DEERING COLTS (QLD U20S)

Jalen Tangiiti-Turner was on the wing for Wynnum-Manly Seagulls’ 56-6 demolition of Western Mustangs. The Seagulls are fifth on the ladder.
