NRL

Aranui junior and Brisbane winger Jamayne Isaako kicked his second match-winning penalty goal of the season in Thursday night’s heart-stopping 22-20 victory over Canterbury.

Isaako finished with five goals from as many attempts after slotting the decisive two points after the siren to edge out the Bulldogs, reviving recent memories of his golden-point penalty goal against the Tigers.

He also had 13 runs for 97 metres in a solid all-round performance, while he scored 68 points and is boasts an outstanding goalkicking success rate of 84.8 percent in 2018.

Kodi Nikorima came off the bench for the Broncos.

Pita Godinet came off the bench for Wests Tigers and made 10 tackles and four runs at hooker in a 26-4 loss to his former club the Warriors at Mount Smart Stadium.

After playing the previous six games in first grade, Jazz Tevaga missed the Warriors’ win over the Tigers with injury.

For the second time this season, Lewis Brown was left as an unused replacement on the Manly bench. The veteran utility has made just one NRL appearance this year and requires three more to hit the 200-game mark in his illustrious career.

 

INTRUST SUPER PREMIERSHIP NSW

Unlucky not to get a recall to Canterbury’s struggling NRL line-up after some sparkling ISP form, Fa’amanu Brown was the match-winner in the Bulldogs’ 23-22 eclipse of Wentworthville Magpies.

Moving to the bench to accommodate relegated hooker Michael Lichaa, Brown kicked a second-half conversion before slotting the deadlock-breaking field goal in the 79th minute.

Matt McIlwrick featured at hooker for Western Suburbs Magpies in a 42-12 loss to the Dragons.

 

INTRUST SUPER CUP QLD

Nathan Saumalu was in the centres for Mackay Cutters as they powered to a 26-10 away win over Norths Devils on Saturday.

 

JERSEY FLEGG (NSW U-20s)

The Jersey Flegg competition is on a two-week hiatus.

 

HASTINGS DEERING COLTS (QLD U-20s)

Jalen Tangiiti-Turner’s Wynnum Manly Seagulls side went down to Northern Pride Under-20s in Cairns.

 

MAL MENINGA CUP (QLD U-18s)

Jordan Riki played at prop in Norths Devils’ gallant 18-16 loss to Souths Logan Magpies in Saturday’s Mal Meninga Cup final. He was singled out for praise in QRL’s match report of the decider.

Riki is expected to push for a call-up to the Devils’ Under-20s side later this season.
