NRL
Burnham Chevaliers junior Siua Wong topped Sydney Roosters’ tackle count with 31 in their record-shattering 82-12 defeat of North Queensland, while he also made 12 runs for 100 metres.
Aranui Eagles winger Jamayne Isaako kicked four goals and racked up 17 runs for 163 metres, and Burnham Chevaliers five-eighth Kodi Nikorima starred with 11 runs for 100 metres, a line-break and a try assist in the Dolphins’ hard-fought 28-22 win over St George Illawarra.
Halswell Hornets prop Tanner Stowers-Smith was outstanding off the bench in the Warriors’ 42-6 rout of Gold Coast, churning through 16 runs for 177 metres with five tackle-breaks, along with 25 tackles.
Hornby Panthers second-rower Jordan Riki worked hard in Brisbane’s 30-6 loss to Newcastle, playing the full 80 minutes and reeling off 41 tackles, as well as 10 runs for 86 metres.
NRLW
Papanui Tigers second-rower Jaydika Tafua played 52 minutes off the bench in Cronulla’s 32-20 loss to Wests Tigers, toiling for 37 tackles.
Sydenham Swans’ Isabella Waterman made her first NRLW appearance of the season, lining up at centre in Canberra’s 18-16 defeat to North Queensland. Waterman made 15 runs for 116 metres and produced a try assist.
The Magic Round outing of another former Swans backline star, Parramatta winger Martha Mataele, lasted just two minutes due to an HIA. The Eels went down 32-12 to Newcastle.
NSW CUP
Linwood Keas winger Chelden Hayward’s NSW Cup call-up for Canterbury-Bankstown came to an end just three minutes in due to a failed HIA. Hornby Panthers centre Sosaia Alatini had 12 runs for 130 metres in the Bulldogs’ 20-10 win over a Melbourne side that featured Riccarton Knights’ K-Ci Newton-Whare (nine runs for 84 metres, 27 tackles) in the front-row.
Linwood Keas’ Te Kaio Cranwell enjoyed a promotion to Newcastle’s NSW Cup side, playing 27 minutes off the bench in a 34-16 loss to North Sydney. He made three runs and 14 tackles.
Hornby Panthers’ Felix Faatili was industrious in 33 minutes off the bench in Newtown’s 14-8 defeat of South Sydney, racking up seven runs for 85 metres and 21 tackles.
NSW WOMEN’S PREMIERSHIP
Hornby Panthers’ Manisha Seebeck played on the wing in Central Coast Roosters’ 24-8 loss to Newcastle.
Eastern Eagles’ Terongomaianiwaniwa Williams was Canterbury-Bankstown’s 18th player for the 32-10 loss to Illawarra.
JERSEY FLEGG CUP
Northern Bulldogs’ Bronson Reuben lined up at halfback in Canterbury-Bankstown’s 22-all draw with Melbourne. Eastern Eagles winger Victory Isaako scored the Storm’s first try and kicked three goals.
Hornby Panthers’ Jackson Stewart featured at fullback in Sydney Roosters’ 26-14 win over St George Illawarra, scoring a crucial second-half try.
SUPER LEAGUE
Wakefield Trinity moved to second on the Super League ladder with a 32-12 defeat of Catalans, with Burnham Chevaliers’ Jazz Tevaga (14 runs for 100 metres, 13 tackles) and Hornby Panthers’ Caius Faatili (five runs for 25 metres, 18 tackles) contributing from the bench.
Aranui Eagles’ Daejarn Asi scored a try and laid on another from halfback in Castleford’s 48-18 loss to Warrington.
