HAPPY HIRE TEAM UP WITH CRL FOR GRAND FINAL DAY

The climax of the local rugby league season will be proudly known as Happy Hire CRL Grand Final Day following a naming rights sponsorship agreement between Canterbury Rugby League and the marquee and event equipment rental company.

Happy Hire started operating in Christchurch more than a decade ago and now has branches in Dunedin, Wellington and Hamilton.

With over 12,000 satisfied customers and more than half a million products hired, Happy Hire provide the best-quality hire products – including marquees, lighting and sound equipment, furniture, glassware and catering – for the best prices.

“We’re just about supporting people’s events – our ethos is ‘making it happen’,” Happy Hire founder and Chief Happiness Officer Jason Roberts says.

“I was working in the corporate world but it wasn’t my passion. It started with a marquee and a few lights in the garage at home – helping people celebrate milestones and community events – and grew from there.

“We’ve been going fulltime in three branches for seven or eight years, then Hamilton was a new addition last year. We had a few speed bumps with COVID – like everyone – but you just adapt and carry on.

“Whether it’s family, culture, community or sports, it’s important to not get stuck in the rut of day-to-day and to celebrate something.”

From Polyfest, Field Days and weddings, to corporate events and birthday parties, Happy Hire are the go-to equipment hire outfit for every event, big or small.

As part of the sponsorship arrangement, supporters will get first-hand experience of what they do best courtesy of the equipment set-up on Happy Hire CRL Grand Final Day on August 20. But as Roberts explains, the partnership is a natural one – Happy Hire has a long-standing involvement with the code.

“Rugby league is my favourite sport, so it’s great to see it’s thriving in New Zealand,” he enthuses.

“We may look to the Warriors as our pinnacle team, but it’s really awesome to see the grassroots rugby league and the junior tournaments.

“The values are very similar to ours – we do a lot of stuff in the community, sponsorships, working with community days. We’ve been working with Linwood Keas and Hornby Panthers for quite a few years with their Club Days, or just getting a bouncy castle to their events, helping with their awards nights.

“It’s a logical fit. I’ve felt that rugby league is a lot more community-based and down to earth compared to some other sports and we are looking forward to solidifying that partnership with rugby league.”

“Happy Hire want to support not just the sport, but the wider community and the people involved. We might do an event for a club, then from there supply a bouncy castle or disco lights for a kid’s birthday – we like to connect at a personal level.

“Events are always happening – we’re here to help and we do a good job.”

“We are delighted to have secured Happy Hire as our first-ever naming rights sponsor for Grand Final Day,” CRL CEO Malcolm Humm says.

“Having supported Canterbury Rugby League in the past at various levels, it is fantastic to now have Jason and his team backing such an iconic annual event such as our Grand Final.

“Happy Hire are big fans of our great game, so we are grateful to have them as part of the rugby league whanau in Canterbury.”
