RED AND BLACK REPORT 2018: EDITION NO.27
Each week the Red and Black Report will keep you up to date with how our Canterbury Rugby League products are performing in Australia’s elite and lower-grade competitions.
There were no Canterbury juniors left in the men’s NRL finals on the weekend, but Sui Pauaraisa was flying the South Island flag in the NRL Women’s premiership on Saturday as the Warriors went down to St George Illawarra Dragons 22-10.
Pauaraisa was a late bench inclusion for the Round 1 upset of Sydney Roosters and again received a last-minute call-up after initially being left out of the 17, promoted to the starting side at lock for the Saints showdown.
The Warriors are still in the hunt for the inaugural NRLW grand final but face a tough Round 3 assignment against Brisbane Broncos in Melbourne on Friday night.
Pauaraisa will be cheered on at AAMI Park by her husband and daughters courtesy of major sponsors Flight Centre. Watch the Linwood Keas star’s touching story of sacrifice and determination from 0:25.
INTRUST SUPER PREMIERSHIP NSW
Fa’amanu Brown starred at hooker as Canterbury Bulldogs edged St George Illawarra Dragons 28-26 for a spot in the ISP grand final. Brown, who has played nine NRL games for the Bulldogs this year, will square off against his former club Newtown Jets in the decider.
Watch as our #IntrustSuperPremiership squad celebrate following their 28 – 26 victory over the Dragons yesterday.

HASTINGS DEERING COLTS (QLD UNDER-20S)
Boom back-row prospect Jordan Riki is set to line up for North Devils in this weekend’s Hastings Deering Colts against Townsville Blackhawks, who defeated Northern Pride in Saturday’s preliminary final. Broncos-contracted Riki helped the Devils snare the first grand final berth with an upset of the top-ranked Blackhawks a week earlier.
