SEA EAGLES SKYPE WITH HAEATA STUDENTS

Lucky students received the opportunity to quiz some Manly Sea Eagles stars on Monday at a Q & A Skype session at Haeata Community Campus.

Players including Lewis Brown, Martin Taupau, Taniela Paseka and Frank Winterstein were asked the tough questions by kids as they look forward to the Sea Eagles’ visit in two weeks’ time for their NRL clash with the Warriors at Christchurch’s AMI Stadium.

Questions included “what do you have for breakfast?” and “do you think you’ll make the grand final?”

It was a great experience for kids to talk to their heroes about everything from the upcoming game with the Warriors in Christchurch to their debut games in the NRL.

Councillor Glenn Livingstone was at the event and said it was a unique opportunity for kids from Christchurch to get face-to-face time, albeit via video link, with some of rugby league’s big names.

“I was saying to the kids, some of these players aren’t much older than some of them, so it’s a great role model,” Livingstone said.

“It’s going to be great to have them here and have them come to the community prior to the game, it’s just brilliant.

“It’s just what Christchurch needs. We love rugby, but it’s not everything. League has a great following. It’s very grassroots so these kids will love to see the top guys here.”
